Cafe Coffee Day, which lies at the corner of the street I live in, is one of my favourite evening hanging spots. I would say there is not a place more pleasant and peaceful. So, whenever I feel like penning down something, I just push the doors of that coffee shop with my pen and my book.
It was a fine and pleasant evening. I was drinking a cup of coffee and clubbing up a number of thoughts to be penned down when I heard a bass voice say, “It doesn’t taste the way it always does”. I took a swerve to check who he was because his artistic voice attracted my senses. An old man, with grey and black hair, a little beard and a talented look.
“This is not it”, he said again, in a dissatisfied tone. With a raised pitch he uttered, “excuse me!”, while a barista walked towards him. “What is wrong with my coffee? It tastes like mud”, he angrily sighed. The server replied with a pleasant voice, “what did you order sir?”. “A French Vanilla with a mild blend of Oreo?”, replied the man. “But sir, your order given was Mocha with dark chocolate”, said the server in a doubtful sense. “It was you who noted down the order, and what I ordered was a French Vanilla”, said the man angrily looking into his wrong cup of coffee. “No sir, I would never make a mistake that way. Nobody else ordered a Mocha from the past two hours, except you”, replied the server.
With a surprising and a dramatic face said the old man, “Oh! So you say it was me who gave a wrong order?. I am a regular customer here and apparently drank a thousand cups of French Vanilla. I would like to talk to your superiors about this blunder you have made”.
“We do not like to stress out our customers this way sir, return back your wrong coffee and I shall get you a fresh French Vanilla for no cost.” “Do you think I am a miser?”, uttered the old man. “I would like to pay for my own coffee, I have enough”, he said in a stern voice. The barista paused for a while. I suppose he ran out of words. He took a deep breath and said, “sure sir!”. And yes, the conversation was over. All my thoughts vanished and I lost as to what I was penning down. But then I knew what to pen down. It was titled “The rich old man and the intelligent barista”. Both of them had their own ways of living the day. One is rich with money, and the other is rich with intelligence.
Answer:
An incident is a short narrative told for its own sake. It deals with a single, simple situation, an episode. Its primary emphasis is upon the character of the narrator, of some person involved in the action, or upon the action itself.
Explanation:
Cafe Coffee Day is a place where I mostly used to go while returning home. As usual I had gone there last evening and I ordered the same as usual my dark coffee with chocolate. I was wiating for my coffee meanwhile, I noticed some argumentative voice so I turned around to see what's happening there. I saw a lady and the barista having argument. I didn't know what's the matter. The lady asked for a sugarfree coffee due to his diabetes and the barista had given him cofee with two spoons of sugar. Now the lady was asking for replacing the coffee and she also siad she will only pay for the sugarfree coffee but the barista was not agreed on this and said that she had ordered in a very low voice that no one could understood. I thought to stop it but i was just able to intervene it. Both of them were stick to their point so I intervene it by saying he could replace my cofee with the coffee of the lady because I have not received it yet. So it can be replaced.
In this way the matter was calmed down. The barista was also agreed on this because in this way he does not having any loss and the lady also got her sugarfree coffee.
From that incident, I learnt to be clear and loud to what I want and sometimes intervening proves to be helpful for peace.
