Subject Promotion of Indian Handicrafts
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to highlight the difficulties and plight of the artisans who make the design of Indian handicrafts.
Indian handicrafts have earned quite a name and fame abroad. Indian handicrafts are in great demand in the US, Europe and the gulf countries. But in India, they are not given due recognition. The government is indifferent to their problems. They don't get the raw materials at reasonable rates. Then comes the problem of selling their finished products. They sell their products to middlemen who buy these at cheap prices and sell them at high prices, thus making lot of profit.
I suggest that the artisans and craftsmen must be provided easy loans to buy the raw materials and provisions should be made so that they can sell their products directly in the market, without theinterference of middlemen.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely

Subject: Lack of recognition of handicraft
Sir:
I am writing this letter to express my deep concern over the issue of lack of recognition of handicraft in India. Indian handicrafts are quite popular among the foreigners. These crafts have immense potential to contribute to the growth and development of the national economy. At the nascent stage these crafts need promotional care and management. The Government at the Central and State levels can provide this care.
However the handicraft industry faces lots of challenges such as providing financial aids such as loans, banking, and required subsidies, outlets to sell these handicrafts, websites, etc. The Government at the Central and State levels should provide them exemption from all sorts of taxes initially. Once the sale of handicrafts picks up, the Government may consider levying reasonable taxes on handicrafts.
I appeal to the Government to provide all the protection it needs to blossom further. Kindly, give my views enough space to sensitize it. Thanking you.
Yours truly,
Atul Singhania
