Fill the 3 litre can with the 2 litres from the 5 litre can - leaving 2 litres in the 3 litre can. Fill the 5 litre can from the tap. Fill the remaining 1 litre space in the 3 litre can from the 5 litre can. Leaving 4 litres in the 5 litre can.

  1. Fill 5L bottle
  2. Fill 3L bottle from the 5L bottle. 5L bottle has 2L water left.
  3. Empty out the 3L bottle and pour the 2L water from 5L bottle into 3L bottle.
  4. Refill the 5L bottle again.
  5. Pour out 1L water from 5L bottle into 3L bottle to fill it.
  6. Water left in 5L bottle is required quantity.
