You have a convex lens of focal length 10 cm. At what distance from the lens, should you hold an object to get image of the same size as the object?

Answer:

Object distance = 5 cm

Explanation:

focal length = f = 10 cm

object size = image size

p = q

Lens formula is given as

1/f = 1/p + 1/q

1/10 = 1/p + 1/p

1/10 = 2/p

1/5 = 1/p

p = 5 cm

So, if the object is placed 5 cm at left side of the lens. An image of same side will be formed as of object size.
