Dear Mr.Jones,
I'm sorry to inform you, that I am writing you this letter to inform you of a bad news.
Yesterday, while reversing my car i accidentally smashed the headlight mirror, of your car. I'm not a very experienced driver as of yet, and this  accident made me feel quite guilty.
I wanted to offer to get your headlight mirror fixed when you return. Kindly inform me whether you'd like for me to get them fixed in your absence or upon your return.
Once again, I apologize for my mistake.

Looking forward to your reply,
Your's sincerely,
Jonathan

Dear (Name),

I accidentally damaged your headlight. While the damage was entirely accidental, I do take full responsibility and I am deeply sorry. I offer to get the mirror replaced as soon as possible and I made arrangements for the replacement myself. However, I do not think this fully conveys how sorry I am to have inconvenienced you.

So, again, thank you for your patient attitude concerning your broken headlight. I am not sure I myself would be so cool headed if I was in your position.

Thanking You

Sincerely,

(Your Name)
