You can make vehicles and show the smoke coming out from them aand make a factory behind it and also show smoke coming out from factory . . but make this whole model out of thermacol or cardboard .

i had the same topic and had made two nuclear power plants with dry ice inside for the smoke effect
anyway you can make a sewage type box and water coming out from a factory
or a cylindrical mill with incense stick inside it which will give a smoking effect and give a background to it
P.S:-for further info about incense stick ....surf the net and it is easily available in normal markets at a cheap price
