I fought poverty to reach where I am today.
My father (Rakesh) was a farmer and my mother was a house maid. I was the third of my four siblings. I come from a humble family. My father dreamed that one of his children would one day, bring us out of this miserable condition. He did not want us to have the life that he did, and enrolled all of us in school.
I enjoy learning and gaining knowledge. I was disciplined in class and prompt in my studies and had a thirst to know more and an ambition to make a difference. In 2013, my Science teacher told me about the national talent search examination and hoped that I would participate in it, as she said she knew, that I had the potential to succeed. And ever since 2014, I had been preparing very hard for it.
I used to wake up early morning and go through my school notes, so that I do not slacken with my marks in school, but once in school, during the break and after school, I attained special permission from the principal to stay back for a couple of hours to use the library and the internet facilities, in school.
In 2014, we had the CEO from one of the top IT firms visit our school. The aim of the visit, was to motivate us to work hard and enjoy success. My principal told the gentleman about me and the competition. The CEO was impressed about my zeal to work hard and informed the Principal that he desired to extend a scholarship to enable me to prepare.
Once, I received the scholarship, as part of the comany's social activity, two of the employees from the company visited me thrice in that year and gave me a laptop and many books, that would be of much use to me. Four of my subject teachers took turns everyday to stay back with me in school and help me prepare better. They quizzed me and were stern with me, this pushed me further to excel.
In 2015, after I had participated, the examination result had come and I had won. The result changed not only my life, it changed my family's life as well.
I can only say that, there is no easy way to success. Hard work will pay off, some day!
