You have been provided with three test tubes. One of them contains distilled water and the other two contain an acidic solution and a basic solution, respectively. If you are given only red litmus paper, how will you identify the contents of each test tube?

Answer:

first you put the litmus paper one by one in three of them. the litmus paper remains unchanged in test tubes containing water and acidic solution.

the litmus paper turns blue in the one containing basic solution

now put the blue litmus paper u got into the two test tubes from earlier

it will remain unchanged in the one containing water but turn red in the one containing acidic solution

Answer:

well if you want know about . how to find whether the solution is acidic . so as you said that you are given red litmus paper . so the solution containing acidic medium will remain the same red only as when there is acid the litmus paper will indicate red sign .

basic solution will change the litmus paper into red to blue .

distilled water will change the red litmus paper into purple
