you have been provided with three test tubes one of them contains distilled water and other two contains an acidic and a basic solution respectively if you are given only red litmus paper how will you identify the contents of each test tube

Put the given red litmus paper in each of the three test tubes.The solution which turns the red litmus paper to blue is basic.
Now, put this blue litmus paper in the remaining two test tubes.The one which turns it red again is acidic.
The test tube which has no effect on either red or blue litmus paper is distilled water.

1. we would dip the red litmus paper in all the three test tubes
2. the basic solution will turn it into blue litmus.
3. then we would dip the blue litmus(obtained by dipping red litmus in basic solution) in the other two test tubes.
4. the acidic solution will turn it into red again
hence
5. the left out test tube contains water.
6. the one which turned red litmus to blue contains base in it
7. the one which turned blue litmus to red contains acid in it...
