Explanation:

☆After brushing the wall with an aqueous solution of Calcium hydroxide [ Ca(OH)2 ] then after 2-3 days that wall will turned to white colour because the Calcium hydroxide [ Ca(OH)2 ] which is coated on the walls reacts slowly with the carbon dioxide [ CO2 ] which is present in the air to form a thin layer of calcium carbonate [ CaCO3 ] .

☆That Calcium carbonate [ CaCo3 ]

is formed after two to three days after of whitewashing which gives a shiny finish to the walls.

● No need to balaced the chemical equation for the reaction of Calcium Hydroxide [ Ca(OH)2 ] with Carbon dioxide [ CO2] because it is already balanced :-

Ca(OH)2 (aq) + CO2 (g) ---- CaCO3 (s) + H2O
