You have four resistors of 8 Ω each. Show how would you connect these resistors to have effective resistance of 8 Ω.

Explanation:

We can connect two resistors in series, then the total resistance will be R1 = 8 + 8 = 16 Ohms.

Now connect the other two resistors in series. Now the total resistance will be R2 = 8 + 8 = 16 Ohms.

Then connect the above two pairs in parallel.

Final resistance will be  1/R(f) = 1/R1 + 1/R2  = 1/16 + 1/16 = 2/16 = 1/8.

So R(f) or final resistance = 8 Ohms.
