Waiting for the Grandmother at the Railway Station

It is 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2016. I am standing at platform number 1, waiting for Shatabdi Express to arrive from Delhi. My mother is returning after attending a wedding function. All around me there is noise and commotion of people getting ready to get on the train. Porters are getting ready to provide their services to the travelers who might be carrying heavy luggage. The vendors are also readying their foodstuff to sell on the train during the brief halt. The announcer is incessantly announcing the arrival, departure of trains along with the train numbers and their arrival and departure timing. She is repeating the information about the delayed trains. My mother's train is also delayed by an hour. People are waiting for the train to arrive. Trains are arriving very slowly at different platforms. The platforms begin to team with human activities as the train stops and thousands of passenger get off and on them. An electrical cleaning vehicle with mop is cleaning and mopping the platform. The tracks are awfully dirty and unhygienic. They are stinking badly. Since it is the month of June, the weather is terribly hot and close. The tropical sun is beating hard on the concrete platform. A heat wave is blowing. I am also feeling thirsty. In spite of having drunk a cold drink just a few moments ago, my lips are feeling dry again. Now I see people getting active on the platform number 1. Far in the distance I see an electric engine pulling along the train. Now it is honking its horn signaling the people standing on the platform to get aside. My mother is travelling in coach number 11. I will have to get into the coach to pick her luggage. I hope I will manage to get into the coach in time and help my mother get off the train.
