You have learnt that the gravitational attraction is mutual.if that is so,does an apple also attract the earth? If yes, then why does the earth not move in response?

because the mass of earth is far greater than apple....

Yes apple does attract the earth but the mass of the the apple is negligible in front of the earth and so the apple move towards the earth and not vice versa
