you have made a pendulum by tying a stone to a string.Its time period is 1 second.You want to reduce the time period.How will you achieve this?

Reduce the length of the string which is tied to the stone. The time reduces because the longer the string is the longer the time is taken. The shorter the string is the lesser the time is taken.

In the above given formula,  

T – Time period

l – Length of the pendulum

g – Gravitational acceleration of pendulum

From the above formula we can understand that time period of the pendulum is directly proportional to length. So if the length is increased,  time period will increase, and if length of string is decreased, time period will also decrease.
