I have chosen this item to describe the shape of the earth because the shape of the earth is not spherical, it is flatter at the poles and due to its rotation about its own axis and it bulges out at the equator. The shape of the earth is called obalate spheriod. Cricket and tennis balls are spherical in shape while pumpkin is like an ellipsoid. An orange looks very similar to the shape of the earth described above.
