Dear Sajan

How are you and our parents? How is our brother Rajesh doing? You must be thrilled about your 12th birthday coming up next month. It is your last birthday before you turn a teenager. My congratulations to you on the same and also I wish you a very happy birthday in advance.

I happened to meet Gautham last week. He told me that you have now started behaving very foolishly. Why do you create a fuss and throw tantrums like a small child when our parents don’t get what you want on the same day you ask? Do you realize how much it hurts them? They care for you so much and give you all the comfort and things that you need. There are so many people who don’t get even their basic necessities. You must consider yourself lucky to be blessed with such parents. I request you to mend your ways and not make them unhappy anymore.

Shall stop now with lots of love and best wishes once again. Hope you have a great day. Write to me about how you celebrated it.

Dear Brother:

I hope this letter finds you in great health and excitement about your coming birthday. Accept my wishes and greetings for the birthday. You will be thirteen soon! You had better start behaving maturely now! I have come to know from very reliable source that you have become quite rowdy hooligan. You often get involved in altercations, arguments, and unnecessary disputes. Your academics are going down!

You are misusing the facilities given to you.  Let me warn you we gave these facilities to you for convenience; not inconvenience. If you don’t mend ways, they can be withdrawn from you. Kindly use them rightly. I am sure you won’t misuse them. Misusing will only engender more problems. In our family education is the first priority, and doing well in it the first responsibility. I hope you will keep the family principles intact. The family has quite high hopes on you! Give regards to mother and dad.

Yours affectionately,

Suresh Mitra
