I live in Ghaziabad, Delhi NCR.

• It is a city. The features that make it so are –

It has large number of population

It has a population composed of people from various cultural backgrounds

The residents have a broad mind set

It is well connected with transport system

It is all the modernised facilities in terms of Medical and education

• There are large no. of industries in Ghaziabad.

• No, agriculture is not the main job here

I live in Delhi, the Capital of India. Delhi is a populous city, which boasts of highrise buildings, urban population that is well educated. I live in the southern part of Delhi. A large section of this part of the metropolitan city is engaged in tertiary or secondary activities, which is a source of their income. This part of Delhi is well planned, however, it is highly populated.  

The features, which make me think it is as a city and not a village:

c) It is also densely populated, touching about 20 million

d) The city dwellers are dependent on secondary and tertiary activities to earn an income

Yes, there are a number of factories around where I live. Here, good, such as paper, plastic and steel are manufactured. Factories give employment to people on a large scale and lead to development, but also are a major contributor of pollution.

Agriculture - the main job:

Though in some parts of Delhi, people are involved in primary activities like agriculture and farming, however, people are mostly engaged in secondary and tertiary activities. Secondary activities include manufacturing, industries shipbuilding, construction, Tertiary activities, however, refers to the service sector, such as medical services, healthcare, education etc,

Yes, occupational nature of people has a big influence on Delhi being identifies as a city. Since people are mostly involved in secondary and tertiary activities, higher facilities are available, there are higher income slabs, better infrastructure. At the same time, educational levels are higher than in a town or village.  

Buildings in my city:

Yes, the highrise buildings that are apartments, schools, hospitals or offices make it into a developed city where there are large number of facilities and luxuries available at one’s fingertips.  

Availability of educational opportunities:

Because the educational opportunities are easily available and accessible, people are well educated and belong to higher income slabs raising the development and income levels of the city while also adding to the facilities and luxuries available at one’s fingertips.  

People's way of living and behaving:

Since the income levels and education levels are higher with more facilities and luxuries easily available, people are urban.  

People's way of talking and dressing:

Yes, the population of English speaking citizens in Delhi is high. Since it is a developed city with luxuries and facilities, people are more  westernised in the way they talk, dress and behave. Their outlooks are also broader as a result of their education.
