You may see kittanara, a xerophytic plant, grown as fence around crop fields in some areas in our state. Actually those places are not desert. How can they grow their?

Hello there!

Plants have different adaptations usually depending on their environment to help them survive.

Xerophytic plants are plants adapated to environments with very low water supply. However, even when these plants are adapated for very dry weather/climate, this does not mean that they cannot survive under normal weather/climate. It just means that they have extra adaptations.

In tropical areas for example, there are some months where there is less rain or mositure such that some plants cannot grow (e.g. grasses, flowers). In these months, xerophytes are better adapted and can survive better because they do not require a lot of water compared to other plants.

I hope this will help you!
