On stepping inside the lift, I could see similar faces. They were my neighbours whom I've not seen for quite a while as I was out of town.
'Good heavens! Where have you been dear neighbour?' said Mr Jones who stood beside his wife.
'Well...I was in Dubai. And how have you all been?'
'Good as gold,' replied Mr Jones, 'Why were you in Dubai?'
I took a sigh of relief, 'For work and stuff most probably.' Then I noticed that Mrs Jones was mute as always. 'And I see...you're looking as young and pretty as ever, Mrs Jones. It's a pleasure seeing you again after all this time.'
'Thanks. And it's a pleasure to see you again too, 'said Mrs Jones in a muffled voice.
'Ahem! So I guess you'll be staying here for quite sometime?' said Mr Jones.
'Yes, I'm here for few weeks after which I'll be gone again,' I chuckled.
'That's not fair of you!' retorted Mr Jones.
'I know right...but I have no choice. Anyway that's how life is...where does it come from and where does it go?' I smiled at them thoughtfully.
'You're right,' he chucked, 'Do let us know when you're about to leave.'
'Certainly, Mr Jones.'
At this we ended our conversation as the lift came to a halt.
