You receive this letter from your six year old cousin, Aliyah.
Dear Cousin,
I am so sad because my caterpillar Ralph is gone. In his jar there is a hard green thing. Should I bust it open to find Ralph?
Aliyah
Write back, explaining why she shouldn't break open the pupa or chrysalis. Explain what has happened to Ralph, and what will happen if she waits patiently.
Write 2-4 paragraphs. Reread your letter carefully to check whether you have made your points clearly. Ralph’s life is on the line!

Answer:
shouldn't break open the pupa or chrysalis because If you cut the pupa or chrysalis open, you kill the moth or butterfly. There is a HUGE difference between a cocoon and pupa or chrysalis. A cocoon is like a changing room or sleeping bag. The moth or butterfly pupa is INSIDE it.
