Defacement of public property is a common sight in our country. Owing to lack of strict action against  the culprits, people deface the newly constructed public property with impunity. How ugly do these defaced public property buildings and constructions appear to the onlookers! Most of the defacement is done by political parties as the elections approach, or by companies to promote their products or services. Since there is no respect to law and righteousness, no action is taken against the culprits as they have their say among the high government officials or ruling party politicians.
There are many negative effects of these handbills and posters stuck on bridges, traffic light posts and walls. The most adverse effect of these posters and bills is the damage they do the public property. The paint, plaster, and the outer protective covering of the bridges, light posts, and walls is destroyed leading to their weakening and fast erosion. Such a reckless waste of national money and resources! Secondly, these posters and handbills spoil the beauty of the city; foreigners visiting our city find these ugly sights quite shocking. This leads to a bad image of our society in their minds. Recently, our city has been shortlisted by the central government to be converted into a Smart City. Will our city look smart at all with such unplanned sticking of posters and handbills everywhere? Another serious problem that these handbills and posters cause is accidents. You must be wondering how they can accidents. Well, these bills often catch the attention of the people driving vehicles. Even the slightest distraction on awfully busy roads is sufficient to cause accident. This problem can be controlled. The municipal corporation will have to come into action. There should be heavy fine on those who deface public property. People should also come forward and fight against this nuisance. Media can be involved in forming a public opinion against this ill practice. The central government can be involved in getting rid of this problem too.
