Given:

You sold your favourite laptop to your friend at 10 percent loss your friend

Further sell it for 900 dolars and earns a 15 percent profit

To find:

The actual price of the laptop

Solution:

Let the actual price of the laptop be $ "x".

We have the formula as:

\boxed{\bold{S.P. = \frac{100 -L\%}{100} \times C.P.}}\\\\\boxed{\bold{S.P. = \frac{100 +G\%}{100} \times C.P.}}

Since I sold my laptop to my friend at 10% loss, so we can write the eq. as:

S.P.  = \frac{100 -10\%}{100} \times x

\implies S.P.  = \frac{90}{100} \times x

\implies S.P.  = 0.9 x ..... (i)

Further, my friend sells the laptop for 900 dollars at 15% profit

∴ Mine S.P. of laptop = Friend's C.P. of the laptop = 0.9x

So, we can use the above formula and write the eq. as:

0.9x = \frac{100 + 15}{100} \times 900

\implies 0.9x = \frac{115}{100} \times 900

\implies 0.9x = 115 \times 9

\implies x = \frac{115 \times 9}{0.9}

\implies x = 115 \times 10

\implies \bold{x = \$ \:1150}

Thus, the actual price of the laptop is → $ 1150.
