Let say Total Part  = 28x

( Note : 28x is assumes because 28 is LCM of 4 and 7 )  

you took 1/4 part of total   = (1/4) 28x  = 7x

your brother took 2/7 part of your ribbon.  = (2/7) 7x  =  2x

remaining part of ribbon of yours = 7x - 2x  = 5x

Hence  remaining part of ribbon of yours  = 5x / 28x = 5/28
