Diary entry on my experience in a crowded local train

Dear Diary

For the first time in my life I travelled in a local train, that too in Mumbai. I had seen footage of people getting into the trains, but I experienced it first hand only today. It was much more challenging than I thought it would be. As soon as the train arrived, people started jostling to get into the bogies. I too got pushed along. I struggled to keep my bag with me, because it seemed to be getting pulled in another direction. We barely got in when the train started moving. There were no vacant seats, and I stood all through the journey. Surprisingly, no one was irritated about having to struggle to board the train. Some people read, some listened to music on their earphones, some slept, others chatted, while many were glued to their phones. It seemed like it was a part of their daily lives, for they were all at peace. As for me, I will certainly need a lot more practice to be able to travel on the local train without getting anxious.
