We got our vacations and went to a hill station that is close to our place. We started early in the morning so that we can enjoy the beauty of nature on the way. As we entered the forest area we heard a very weird noise. We first thought it was thunder. We slowly got down as there is a branch in front of us. We saw an elephant after we got down from our car. We first got frightened but realized its just roaming. We kept calm. After some time it moved forward and disappeared in bushes. We cleared our way and proceeded. With this incident, we understood that no animal will harm us unless we try to harm it.

Encounter With An Animal
Last summer I had encounter with death. I feel so grateful to God for being alive after staring death in the face. During the summer vacation I went to Manali with friends. All of us are nature lover. We love going to places that are remote and pristine. I remember, it was a sunny Sunday and we thought it was an ideal day to go for trek. We packed our small rucksacks and began our trek. We had decided to cross a small forest that was known to have a few of wild animals such as deer, boars, rabbits, etc. left in it.
There flows a sparkling rivulet on the edge of this small forest; our plan was to just walk along the river for a few kilometers and then return home after having been refreshed by the freshness and purity of nature. We walked along it for some time until the underbrush began to take shape of forest. I suggested we should return home. However Ramesh, one of my friends, insisted to go a little into the forest as he appeared to be enjoying the trek the most. Reluctantly, we agreed. It was so quiet inside the forest. The sunlight could not pierce the thick foliage. The chirpings of the birds were echoing. We had hardly walked just a few hundred meters when we heard rustling of leaves behind us. We knew something was following us. As we turned, we saw a mother leopard with her cubs stalking us. We got scared. We just stood still. The big cats too kept staring at us! We were expecting attack any moment! Fortunately I had a high intensity whistle with me that produced shrill sound when blown into. I took it out and blew as hard as I could. The piercing shrill cry of the whistle scared leopards. They disappeared in a jiffy. And we ran out of the forest as hard as we could, with our hearts thumping frantically.
We did not stop until we had reached hotel! After we reached home, I narrated the incident to the father! He chided me for daring to go into the forest! I thanked God for saving us from any untoward incident that we had willfully thrown ourselves to!
