Me: Hello Uncle. (Or any other greeting.)
Shopkeeper: Hello. How may I help you?
Me: I had got a cycle from your shop two years ago.
Shopkeeper: Yes, go on.
Me: I want to buy a better cycle. Mine has only one gear. I am planning to join a cycling club, so I will need to upgrade to a lighter and a better cycle- one with an aluminium frame and at least 5 gears.
Shopkeeper: So you need a new one? We have a huge range of cycles that you can choose from.
Me: Yes, I am looking for a new cycle, but I was wondering if I could exchange the old cycle for the new one.
Shopkeeper: We can consider that.
Me: That will be nice! Can I show you pictures of the cycle? It will be difficult for me to bring it to you.
Shopkeeper: Let me have a look. What model is it?
Me: It is Btwin My Bike Mountain Cycle. (Showing the pictures)
Shopkeeper: It does look a little worn out, but we can exchange it and adjust the price difference. I can promise you a maximum of Rs. 1200. You can bring it in anytime.
Me: Thank you. I will come by sometime tomorrow.
(The contagion of the new bi-cycle fad in the city had its effect on me too. Though my father had recently bought me a new BSA Mach City which I was mad about at the beginning, but when I saw my friends riding far trendier and more stylish cycles I just wanted to have a more advanced one. So one day I went to the Bicycle Shop to see the new models of cycles to select one for me. I had the following conversation with the owner :)
I: Hey uncle good morning! Do you remember me?
Shopkeeper: Not exactly, but I feel I have seen you earlier. By the way what can I do for you?
I: Uncle , I am your customer who bought Mach City from you six months ago and now I am interested to buy a new bicycle; my budget is rupees fifteen thousand only!
Shopkeeper: In that much you can have a very stylish and durable bicycle. Let me know what specifications you want in your bicycle!
I : Uncle I want a light weight bicycles with shock absorbers, front and rear gears, led lights, and all the required accessories such as knee pads, gloves, helmet, water bottle, etc.
Shopkeeper: But I am afraid the specification you have given me about a cycle of your choice... it will cost you more than fifteen thousand rupees.
I: Uncle I also wanted to ask you whether there is any exchange offer. Would you reduce any price if I offered my Mach City for sale as I don’t like it anymore!
Shopkeeper: I am afraid we don’t buy any old bicycles; nor is there any exchange offer. If in future any company will introduce any exchange offer, I will let you know.
I: OK uncle, by the way what is the cost of the bicycle having all the features that I mentioned?
Shopkeeper: Minimum forty thousands is the starting price of the cycle that you want. You can come with your dad anytime to see the model or for test ride.
I: Oh! Thanks uncle!
