Good morning revered Principal Madam, respected teachers and all my school mates. I am here to share with you my experiences of a trip I recently made.

Last month my family and I decided to go on a short trip to Digha. We went by our personal car, all six of us. Father and mother took turns in driving.

Digha was a pleasant break for us. The sweltering heat of Kolkata had made us sick. The sea pacified our scorching brows.

After checking in a sea-side hotel, we all ran to the beach. The sea was at its resplendent  best. There were a lot of tourists at the beach. I made quite a few friends there.

We were all enjoying the sea waves when suddenly a giant wave crashed in. We squealed with excitement. But soon our excitement fizzled out as it turned to panic.

Wave after wave came thundering in. The beach was flooded with a deluge of waves. People were screaming and shouting. Some could be seen being washed away.

I ran through the waves towards the shore. I could not trace my family but I continued running.

Finally I made it to our hotel. I went up to our room and dashed to the balcony. Water was surging in from all sides . A tsunami had struck us. People were running for dear life. There was screaming and shouting as cars, road side stalls were all being washed away.

I stood trembling in fear when suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. Turning I saw my father. He smiled assuringly at me. He signalled me to look behind him. There I found all my family members and a few more children.

My father is an excellent swimmer and a strong man. He had saved his family and as many children he could.

I thanked God that He had saved my family.  Next day we drove back home. Our car was choc-a-block. We were carrying as many people we could especially children to save them from the wrath of the sea.

It was one of the most memorable incidents of my life. It taught me to trust God. It built a new kinship with the people my father had saved. From him I learnt that 'They only live who live for others'.

Thank you every body for listening to me. Have a wonderful day.
