You went to National park on a holiday with your family during the safari. A wild animal walked across your path When you least expected it Describe the animal behaviour your family reaction and your feelings during this encounter
Explanation:
- I got some valuable lessons to do during my very very first journey to Africa when my family and I met an elephant in the wild! I was on an extended 7 days tour of Zambia, with some cross-border trips into Namibia, Botswana, a and Malawi
- The first of these trips took me to the fabled Chobe National Park of North Botswana, where animals seemed to leave the bush, just to give me the greatest thrill on day one.
- We were heading down a path on the southern bank of Chobe River, Botswana's massive waterway from the distant Caprivi Strip, when one of my family member noticed unexpectedly something upstream-a big shape sprang up between some large trees just beside the road.
- We caught a closer edge of the car and found a young calf, concealed against a large elephant (his mother presumably), whose dusty gray hides effectively conceal them against the shadow-laden trees.
- That was my first lesson in elephant meetings: how the animals can infuse in the African bush, and how eerie they can make no noise when they walk (thanks to their cushion-like soils like pillows strapped to your legs), means that sometimes you can't see the animals until you practically get on top of them.
- Now it was our dilemma. The question now was: was it all right to drive on that narrow track slowly past the pair of elephants? If this causes the mother to panic and charge, should we either wait until the mother moves on or turns around the car?
- My father decided to switch off the car, as he had heard somewhere that in such situation to do so, and wait till the elephant had moved from the scene. The idea was that the rumble of an automotive engine could be interpreted by the animal as a kind of challenge
- The elephant went right up to the car and started to roll her trunk over the hood as if she were trying to make sense of us. Then, as we were watching, she snapped a large foot in the air and started to waver around and gave me a momentary view of being stumped into a metal pancake.
- Eventually, the elephant lost interest in us, wanders with her calf away to the surrounding trees. And so, on the one hand, the suggestion to remain silent seemed to have succeeded-we were unscathed from our meeting.
- This theory shows that staying quiet would convince the elephant that you would not cause any trouble, and it would finally continue on its happy path. All right, that seemed fair enough. We also chose to go back in the direction we were going, a little unnerved by the close encounter.
