Children are the richest gifts of a Nation. They are the most valuable asset. Unfortunately our most prized possession is treated with neglect and contempt.
Yesterday I happened to get stuck in a massive traffic jam. I was almost stranded for more than half an hour. Having nothing to do I looked around to see what was happening.
What struck my eyes was sheer sorrow. Children of all ages were flocking around not playfully though. They were picking up rags and rubbish from the road. Their clothes were nothing but rags.
Instead of going to school or enjoying the bliss of childhood these children were struggling against poverty. They reminded me of the 'chimney sweepers' and Dickens' child characters forced into Labour. Something has to be done for these innocent children. We cannot allow them to wither.
They are the future of India and for a bright future childhood has to be restored to them.
