As for common salt and soil, take a conical flask with a salt-soil solution. pour water to completely submerge the solution. Shake the solution vigorously. Salt being soluble will mix with water, while sand will remain insoluble, pass the solution through a filter paper, the salt will pass with water while the soil will remain in the flask
