1: Malazan Book of the Fallen. Because of its epic scale, its memorable characters, its original races, its heartbreaking moments.
2: Lord of the Rings. Because it's the classic that introduced me to adult fantasy novels and made me an addict for life.
3: The Disworld series. Because it gave us so many insights into humanity and made us laugh about it.
Becomes a bit of a toss up now, so I'll just pick two out of a bunch.
4: The Farseer trilogy. For being excellently written, with great characters.
5: A Song of Ice and Fire. For giving us gritty, epic fantasy with great characterization.
