A smartphone is a useful article, so is a camera. But, they should not be allowed into school, least of all into classrooms. Besides clicking photos, social networking is another menace that has become a major problem today.
As a monitor, I would request the Principal to write to parents and tell them to persuade their children not to bring smartphones, cameras etc to school. In case this is not followed, parents must be told about this in the parents - teachers meeting following the sending out of the letter. If it still does not stop, children's bags must be checked for such gadgets at the entrance to the school and such articles confiscated forthwith. In spite of this, if children are able to smuggle in such items, I as a class monitor would request my best friend, as much as other fellow students, to refrain from doing so and report them to the Principal in cases of violation.
