The students of St. Joseph's convent school embarked on their annual school trip to the shyadri tiger reserve in satara on 21st December 2021.The choice of this location falls in line with the school's preference of visiting places of natural importance rather than tourist destinations. The reserve was declared by the national tiger conservation authority as a project tiger reserve on may 24,2007.
The class visited the koyna sanctuary in satara which includes the shivsagar reservoir of the koyna dam. They were delighted to see a number of wild creatures native to the region in their natural habitat. Animals like sloth bears, Indian bisons, Indian gaint squirrel, langurs, barking deers and sambhar were easily spotted. A group of students even caught a glimpse of a tiger and a leopard reservoir.A varity of birds such as sunbirds, kingfishers, woodpeckers and eagles,as well as snake like pythons and king read cobras were encountered by the students. The four days of the trip passed by quicker than anyone realised and the student,as well as teachers returned happy and content, from a trip in the heart of nature.
