Your explanation about density is nonsense or ignorant
The reason why wood floats on water surface is absolutely not because the density of atoms of the molocular structure of wood is less than that of water , but because the total mass of wood in water is always smaller than that of water , fue to much larger volume of the water body
On the contrary to your misunderstanding , the density of wood is always larger than that of water
Why is it so?
The answer is very simple that because you can drop anything into water and it can push water molecules away to take some space of the water , as a result the kevel of water will rise , due to the density of water is so low , whereas you can never drop anything into a pieces of wood , due to the density of atoms of tge molocular structure of wood is far much higher than that of water
