Your friend and you have started a neighbourhood vigil club. The main objective of the club is to ensure the security of old people living in your housing complex. The very first weeks, you foiled a robbery attempt. Write your diary entry far that day.

Dear Diary,

It was a thrilling night for my neighbourhood vigil club! I am panting, and I still cannot believe that we actually nabbed a thief in our housing complex! Let me describe it in detail. Last month, Arjun and I had started Vigilites, the vigil club of our housing society, so that we could take care of the elderly residents in our complex. Our club consist of 7 teenagers, aged between 14 and 18. In the first two weeks, we managed to help three of our senior residents to buy some groceries for them. However, things took a different turn last night at Mr D'Souza's flat, right above ours. I was up late, completing my pending assignments, when I heard a thump from Mr D'Souza's flat at 12:30am. Fearing that Mr D'Souza might have slipped and fell (because he stayed alone), I went upstairs. I was about to knock the door, when I heard some footsteps from within. They sounded like rubber slippers; and we all knew that Mr D'Souza only wore sneakers. I immediately went downstairs, called Arjun to inform him about this. Suddenly, we heard glass crashing from Mr D'Souza's flat, and I realised that the robber was on the run. I rushed down the stairs, with my smartphone and a wicket in hand. I spotted the robber heading for the park, and I shouted, "THIEF! THIEF! THIEF!", as I sprinted towards him. Then, I saw Arjun closing in from the left and leapt over him. The robber fell down, and I choked him with my wicket while Arjun held on to his limbs. Then, our neighbours rushed in, some calling the cops, some shouting, and some rebuking us for handling this situation on our own. Within minutes, the police cars came in and arrested the thief. Mr D'Souza jogged towards us and identified the thief as the carpenter who had come to work at his flat two days ago. He had stolen forty thousand rupees from Mr D'Souza's safe. The police and our neighbours appreciated our bravery in the manner in which we handled the situation. My parents are still scolding me for not informing them earlier, but I am happy that our Vigilites did what we stand for! Now, I can sleep in peace!

Good night!
