1)As she is not selected do she must be angry this could be the perfect reason for this behaviour.

she got angry as she is not selected and her friends are selected
She may be sad about her not belong selected in the dance and this was the way she was expressing and letting her feelings out.I could tell her that we don't get something we wish to have because something better than that is waiting ahead! I would try to pacify her and explain her the consequences if she continues the same kind of behavior
