Given : your friend have 1/3 of a chocolate he gave 1/2 of his share to you how much part of chocolate you ate ?

(a) 1/5

(b) 1/6

(c) 5/6

(d) 1/3

Solution :

Let us assume that, total chocolate was x gm..

as given that, my friend have (1/3) of chocolate .

So,

→ Chocolate my friend have = (1/3) of x = (x/3) gm.

Now, given that, he gave (1/2) of his share to me.

So,

→ chocolate he gave to me = (1/2) of (x/3) = (x/6) gm.

Therefore,

→ Part of chocolate i ate = (x/6) out of x = (x/6) ÷ x = (x/6) * (1/x) = (1/6) (Ans.)

Hence i ate 1/6 part of Chocolate.

Answer:

1/6

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a simple distribution question.

We are told that our friend has 1/3 of chocolate which means he has only 1 portion of chocolate out of 3 portions.

Now he offered me half of that chocolate which he had; this means that he divided his portion of 1/3 of chocolate into further two parts. This can be written mathematically as ;

= 1/3 ÷ 2

= 1/3 × 1/2

= 1/6

So this means that I will get 1/6 portion of chocolate to eat
