There are two ways:
Book an UBER/OLA cab from Chennai Central Railway Station.
Take a local train from Chennai Egmore (also called Park Station, which is another station past the road in front of Chennai central). You can drop at Tambaram station and then take a bus (55C, 55K, 115, 117 etc.)
You can get down at Vandalur which is the closest station to VIT station. (but whose bus stop is farther than Tambaram’s to its station). Take a bus.
