Your friend wants to buy a big box in the shape of a rectangular solid must have a volume of 84
cubic meters. He tells the you that, because of the contents, the length of the container must be one
meter longer than the width, and the height must be one meter greater than twice the width. You
being a mathematical wizard your friend ask for your help in figuring out the dimensions. How will
you solve his problem?

Step-by-step explanation:

Multiply the length, the width, and the height.

You can multiply them in any order to get the same different result. The formula for finding the volume of a rectangular prism is the following: Volume = Length * Height * Width, or V = L * H * W. Ex: V = 5 in.

Answer:

The Length , width and height of solid are 4 m, 3 m and 7 m respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the width of rectangular solid be x

We are given that the length of the container must be one meter longer than the width

So, Length of solid = x+1

We are also given that height must be one meter greater than twice the width

So, Height of solid = 2x+1

So, Volume of solid = length×width×height

Volume of solid = x(x+1)×(1+2x)

Volume of solid =(x+x²)(1+2x)

Volume of solid =2x³+3x²+x

We are given that  a rectangular solid must have a volume of 84 cubic meters

So, 2x³+3x²+x=84

2x³+3x²+x=84=0

So, (x-3)(2x²+9x+28)

On equating

x-3=0

x=3

So, Length of solid = x+1=3+1 = 4 m

Height of solid = 2x+1 =2(3)+1=7 m

Width of solid = 3 m

Hence The Length , width and height of solid are 4 m, 3 m and 7 m respectively.
