Hair grows at the rate of 1mm per day.

No. of seconds in one day = 24×60×60

86400 seconds

1nm \: = \: {10}^{ - 9} m \\ 1mm \: = \: {10}^{ - 3} m \\ 1nm \: = \: {10}^{ - 6} mm

Growth in nm will be :

1mm ÷ 10^-6 = 1000000nm in one day

Growth Rate = 1000000nm/86400

11.57 nm/s

The growth rate is 11.57 nm/s.

Given - Growth rate in mm per day

Find - Growth rate in nm/s

Solution - As per the known fact, 1 mm = 10⁶ nm

Also, 1 day = 24 hours

1 hour = 3600 seconds

24 hour = 3600*24

Performing multiplication

24 hour = 86, 400 seconds.

Growth rate = growth/time

Growth rate = 10⁶/86,400

Performing division

Growth rate = 11.57 nm/s.

Hence, the growth rate is 11.57 nm/s.
