Dear Sir/Madam,
I wish to address a growing concern in our society, that is begging and child labour. We feel India has prospered over the last one decade but still 70% of Indian population is still below poverty line. I say this because everyday I see hundreds of children begging on the road and thousands working in shops, construction sites and factories. Child labour has increased many fold even though the government has introduced several incentives to increase literacy rate.
Your newspaper is very reputed for taking up social causes and fighting for them. I request you to start a public campaign to eradicate child labour and begging in our society as I feel it is the worst evil in any society. I assure you of my whole-hearted contribution in this matter.
Thank you
Yours sincerely,

Subject: Dismal future of children of poor families
Dear Sir:
I am writing to you to express my deep anguish over the unrelenting problems of children belonging to poor people of India in our country. I feel a little attention of yours towards the problem will be enough to initiate new campaign in eradicating the problem.
The problem of children begging and engaged in menial labour work at shops and factories is quite rampant in all parts of India. In spite of the enforcement of many anti-child labour laws, the problem still exists. The adverse effects of this problem affect the growth, development, and progress of our nation.
Not only millions of children below the age of 14 are working in factories, shops, glass-blowing industry, workshops, etc, they are forced to work in the most unhygienic work conditions. According to Census data, there are over 82 lakh child labourers (aged between 5 – 14 years) in India. Our country needs more and more skilled manpower to achieve the objectives of growth, development and advancement. With so many millions of children working menial jobs, without education, how can India achieve her goals?
The Government at the state and central levels must make schemes to help these children. People and welfare organizations must also contribute in rehabilitating these impoverished children.
We must not discard these children and their families; we should rather help them become self-reliant in earning a decent livelihood for themselves. Through the medium of your esteemed daily I appeal to the Government to look into this and do something for them. Kindly give my views some space in your daily.
Thanking you.
Yours truly,
Abhinav Manchanda
