In the above mentioned scenario, if an intern informs me about the virus and it comes out to a be a hoax, I would follow the following steps:

(i) I would investigate, if the intern knew about it being a hoax or not.

(ii) In case he/she did not know about it; I would teach the intern how to identify between reality and hoax because it may cause tension in the working environment.

(iii) In case he/she knew about it being a hoax, I would provide the intern with a verbal or written warning as set by the business policy. 

(iv) Seek if the interns do this in the future or not.

(v) Provide workshops and trainings related to the codes and ethics of the work environment.
