Dear diary
Our Indian society has a very firm mentality that girls are born to do work and boys are born to study. People do not understand the importance of educating a girl child. Many girls have the capability to progress in life but they are demotivated and their capabilities are overshadowed. This practice of gender discrimination is prevalent in the rural areas as the people there are uneducated. They believe in myths and malpractices. How ever this discrimination is less prevalent in metropolitan cities due this the height of literacy.
I hope that this practice will soon come to an end

Dear Diary
My heart was sobbing and eyes were full of tears today. I can't even imagine how people can differentiate between their both the eyes. How they can differentiate between their children?
Children are gifts of God and they do not have any fault if they are boy or a girl.
Today, I saw the son of our maid going to school and her three daughters going with their mum and working as maid. They are washing utensils at such an age where they must play and read and write.
I remember, the youngest of girl is too intelligent. But she is not getting any opportunity. Rather her brother, who is just meagre , goes to school, have right to play and gets everything he desires.
Why is this so? Just because our society treats girls as burden that will one day go to their in-laws and will maintain their homes. While the son will take care of Family . Why?
I was feeling so pity at my maid's thinking when she said so. Why don't people understand that Girls are no less than boys. We cannot treat them inferior without providing them a fair chance to prove themselves.
I am feeling pity at the thinking of so-called open-minded, modern people who even today live in darkness.
I think I cannot write much because my tears and my heart will say what I want to. Now, I pen down! Meet you at night after telling my maid about the same.
Bye!
