Given :  Mother phone has 18 application , 2/3 being used and 12 more installed and used regularly

To find :  Write an equation to represent the total number of applications

Solution:

Number of Applications already installed = A

Mother uses 2/3 of those application

Mother uses  = (2/3)A  = 2A/3

Downloaded Application = 12

Total number of Application Mom uses = T

T = 2A/3  + 12

=> T = (2A + 36)/3

=>T = 2(A + 18)/3

A is already installed applications

A = 18

=> T = 2(18 + 18)/3

=> T = 2(36/3)

=> T = 2 * 12

=> T = 24

24 Applications being used by mom

T = 2(A + 18)/3
