Dear Ravi,
Sorry for not writing to you so long. Actually there has been a lot of changes in life. My parents have relocated from Durgapur to Shillong. Both are great towns but with a lot of differences.
To begin with Shillong is a hill station. It is green and scenic. The Khasi Hills skirt it on all sides. Shillong is full of flowers, meadows and brooks. No wonder it is lovingly called the 'Scotland of the East'.
There are many attractions in Shillong that were not present in Durgapur.
To begin with there is the lush, vast Golf Links. It is often called 'Polo Ground' . It is very scenic and riding a cycle round its winding way is a Nature Lover's dream come true.
There are many water falls in Shillong making them excellent picnic spots. Birds of various kinds will catch your eye.
For boating there is the picturesque Ward's Lake with the Weeping Willows and the violet Jacarondas giving it a look of Borrowdale. I feel like a Lake Poet when I sit there.
There are beautiful Churches to visit and a lovely shopping complex.
You must come and visit us in your vacation. I will take you trekking. You will love it. Awaiting your response. Take care.
