Your parents plan to visit a hilly area to enjoy snowfall. What type of shoes will you prefer snow shoes having flat sole or shoes having narrow sole. Why?

I am from Malaysia. This is my 1st time goin to switzerland and (probably if weather allowed) walking on the snow (at Jungfraujoch). I am wondering my ordinary Nike sport shoe is sufficient or should I buy a snowshoe? It could be a waste of money to buy a snowshoe for maybe 1-2hours walk on the snow.
