Hi there,

I believe its an old question. However i am. leaving my input for anyone who wishes to benefit from it.

Good afternoon respected principal, erudite teachers and my fellow students,

I am highly honored to deliver this farewell speech. We are all here to bid farewell to our exceptional Principle and a mentor who retired from active service. Today, I realized how time flies.

It gives me great pleasure to say that we must recognize, respect and appreciate all the valuable skills and knowledge our dear Principle (Mr / Ms….) had imparted onto us the future leaders and to thank him for all his efforts and hard work. Of course, I know how painful it is, to say goodbye to someone who is less of a principle but more of a father / Mother. However, we all need to express our sincerest gratitude to him/her for all his uncommon contributions to realizing the educational programmes and development of the school.

I have no doubt on my mind to say that he is an achiever, open-minded, generous, knowledgeable, modest, courageous, responsible and a highly respected individual. Yes, we might not have always agreed with him / her based on the fact that his ways of disciplining students are usually too difficult for us to handle. We usually go extra mile trying to meet his expectations. But we must respect and appreciate the fact that he/she had been helpful to us in anyway.

Thank you sir / madam and we will surely miss you.

Hope this helps,

All the best,

Happy speaking...........

Answer:

Honorable Principal, Stage dignitaries, distinguished guests,  faculty, non-teaching staff and students,

During this beautiful Christmas season, when all hearts are filled with hope and fun; I am here with mixed feelings. On the one hand, we feel sad that the principal will leave us. On the other hand, I am faced with this enormous responsibility, which is to put myself in his place. Getting started and catching up on this moment is really hard. At that moment, I remembered the poem by P. B. Shelley named him Ozymandias. It is about a king who created his own monuments and statues. But over the years, they have all been destroyed and buried in the vast sands of the endless desert.

Unlike this king, others left their legacy in the hearts of people that was never destroyed. One such person is our principal. She has imprinted lasting love and  respect on the hearts of all  who come into contact with her. Unlike the buried  stone monuments, what she wrote in our hearts will live.

And as said in a famous movie*,

“Look around you. There's no life in this room that you haven't touched, and each  of us is getting better  because of you.

Well, one of the biggest lessons you've shown us is that you care about all of us. As a result, you have earned the trust and respect of everyone who has come into contact with you.

The respect you have shown each  of us, and your willingness and eagerness to join us in important decisions  will be remembered. You are always dedicated to work, sincere to the core, simple in life,  calm under pressure and never angry.

Not only have you succeeded in improving outcomes in all your courses, but you have also created a stress-free learning environment for your students. You have done your best to improve the quality of teachers and encourage their development through education and research. My first priority and endeavor will be to create a campus here  admired for its academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and discipline that will be a model for many others.

I ask for your cooperation in this matter. I thank all of you and the Board of Directors in particular for the trust you have placed in me and the trust you have placed in me in this noble responsibility.

Since you have been so supportive in the past, let's continue  with even more eagerness and enthusiasm. Together, we can build on the great legacy left by our dear Director. Thank you.
