                                   By Suchitra Singh

Our school student volunteers took part in the World Literacy Day by organizing a campaign 'Each one teach one'. The campaign was organized by HR Ministry along with local NGO, Vidya. The campaign was organized in the slums adjacent to the city. Students from our school along with volunteers from the other schools taught the children and adults basics of English, Hindi, Math, and Sciences. The volunteers also appealed to the villagers to send their children, especially the girls to the schools. We as a team enrolled 250 girls in the village schools. It was a unique experience working outside the classroom in a real-life situations.

The District Education Officer also visited the literacy campaign sites and praised the volunteers. Such literacy campaigns are extremely important for our country to achieve the goal of 100% literacy. India is a fast developing country with the ambition of becoming a fully developed country as soon as possible. This ambition can only be fulfilled in the condition of 100 % literacy. Such literacy campaigns will definitely will play a vital role in making a vibrant and enlightened India.
