Plan for Educational Trip
Every year the school plans an annual excursion for the students. Since this was our final year we planned to make an educational trip of our choice. Since it was our last year together we decided to make it a long journey to spend the maximum time together. So we decided to visit Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya.
Shillong is a beautiful town located on the bosom of the Khasi hills. It is also called the 'Scotland of the East'. The people of Shillong bear a rich ethnic tribal heritage. Shillong would be an ideal place to visit for science and arts. Scientifically it has a varied flora and fauna. The highest number of butterfly species are found in Meghalaya. We could visit the Shillong Museum that preserves them. Cherrapunji and Mawsynram would give us a glimpse of the rain it receives. The Sylhet and Bangladesh borders would be a nice spot to survey. The old churches and cathedrals lend a glimpse of the colonial impact on Shillong. For poetry lovers Tagore’s residence could be visited.
All in all Shillong would be an ideal place for an excursion trip. A perfect blend of education and fun.
