There are a number of factors due to which acid doesn't burn stomach :-
- Acid produced by the stomach is quite dilute .
- Stomach lining has a coating of mucous which protects it against acid .
- Acid is produced only when we eat something and most of itis utilised in digesting it.
- Even then sometimes when acid is produced more than the requirement, it causes stomach burns( acidity and ulceration .
